Early morning: the best time for forts and outdoor sights, before the heat and the crowds. In summer, start by 7:00 or 8:00 AM.

Midday: in hot months, keep this for indoor sights, lunch and rest. In winter, midday is comfortable for walking the old city.

Late afternoon and sunset: lovely for viewpoints, lakes and bazaars, when the pink walls glow and the air cools.

When to Plan Your Elephant Experience

Our sanctuary is open every day of the year, from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, 10 to 15 km from Jaipur city centre. In the hot months, come early in the morning when it is cooler for you and the elephants.

  • Bathing season: elephant bathing runs from March to October, so plan for these months if bathing matters to you.
  • November to February: no bathing, but feeding, painting, walking and safari are all included, in perfect weather.
  • Amber Fort elephant ride: mornings only, and it pauses during Navratri. In 2026, the autumn Navratri runs from 11 to 19 October.
